Eryn Shea is Live on Squarespace
We are so excited to show off this launch for Eryn Shea Photography! When Eryn reached out to us, she knew that she wanted a fun new Squarespace site. She was not afraid of bold colors and patterns and weren’t either! It was a blast putting together a Restyle with our Kira Reid Template for Squarespace. Eryn’s design is fun, bold, and vibrant to meet the vibe of her brand.
Read our Q+A With
We got to pick Eryn’s brain about running the company and what she’s learned along the way.
GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?
Eryn: I've always been a creative person, but I never had a knack for drawing + painting. When I picked up a camera one day + started playing around, I soon realized that this was MY TOOL to be creative. Soon I was photographing friends, playing around in the darkroom which then snowballed into studying Photography in College. I fell in love with the ability to just create + emulate what I was seeing in fashion magazines + my favorite clothing company campaigns. But there was something about having REAL everyday people as the models, connecting with them personally + being able to curate images for them where they loved how they felt about themselves in my images, like they were actual models themselves!
GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?
Eryn: Most definitely my education prepared me for the technical side of photography, and how to perfect + polish my images in a clean + true to life way. My eye was better trained for attention to detail + seeing colour, having spent all those years in college with endless photo editing projects. I've always stayed true to my editing style in the wave of most filter trends + I feel better equipped having trained my eyes early on, even before my career took off.
GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Eryn: This is a tough one, I learn something new every year! Definitely not to slack on your web presence + to constantly be updating instead of just coasting on "it still all looks good".
GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?
Eryn: That it will be a LOT of work, more than you could ever even imagine, and that your job is more than just being creative. You will wear ALL of the hats, but if you want to be your own boss this is what life is going to be like, so get comfortable juggling again! Haha.
GOLIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS” OR WHAT MADE YOU JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?
Eryn: I had been working at a Graphic Design Firm on the production end, and just doing Photography on the side, but that felt backwards to me! Soon the inquiries for photoshoots started to snowball + I found myself struggling to juggle working full time while doing what I really loved on the side. I knew it was now or never, and that if I wanted Photography to be my full time career, that it needed my FULL attention + it was time to stop the juggle! It was scary at first, but once I did it everything fell into place just like I had hoped.
GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE OR CUSTOM DESIGN?
Eryn: When you're self employed, sometimes you try to do everything to save $$, but I'm not the expert at everything. I knew that it was time to leave the Web + Graphic Design piece to the experts + take that stress off of my own back. I started following Promise like forever ago + she just looked like the cool type of gal that I'd want to be friends with in real life that I could trust what she'd put together for me! Then once I started to follow the entire Go Live team + all of the cool girlgang on staff, their aesthetic + way of speaking just really connected with me. I knew this was a crew of gals that I wanted to be connected with!! Their constant enthusiasm, attention to detail + amazing communication, made me feel like I really was a part of their crew + that they are all real people that totally care about me + creating the site + vibe of my dreams! It's literally 1 of the best decisions I've ever made in my business HANDS DOWN. Instead of stressing about a new website, I've been able to sit back + enjoy the process knowing that I fully trust leaving everything in their hands + that they've got my back!
