Recovering From Reality Is Live On Squarespace
We are so excited about this project we got to work on for mother, doula, wife, writer, mental health advocate, and podcast host, Alexis Haines. It was a blast getting to showcase Alexis' vision for her brand beginning with the logo and color palette and on through the whole website. We loved creating unique collages that spread the fun, feminine, playful vibe and it all came together so beautifully! The design of this Squarespace Website was a Restyle of one of our most popular templates, Salt + Sage.

GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?
Alexis: I got sober at 19 years old after battling a horrendous addiction to heroin for many years. I left the entertainment industry and focused on healing my trauma. Recovering From Reality first came to me as only a podcast and now it is a successful podcast, a book that is launching this fall and a blog.
GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?
Alexis: My answer would be both! I went to school to become a drug and alcohol counselor in my early years of sobriety. I have also spent years working on healing myself mind, body and spirit.
GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Alexis: There’s no such thing as easy money. Financial success comes from being diligent, focused and having a positive mindset.
GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?
Alexis: That it’s okay to launch fast and play catch up a bit. Just don’t get too far behind in the most important areas of your work.
GOLIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS” OR WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?
Alexis: When I realized collectively how much we are all suffering from trauma. Addiction rates are sky high and more than 70,000 people a year in the US are dying because of it. Why all the pain?
GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED/DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?
Alexis: More connection, more love, more freedom.
GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE OR CUSTOM SQUARESPACE WEBSITE DESIGN?
Alexis: I liked the expedient process and was happy with the diversity in the templates.
