Today we're sending a huge CONGRATS to wedding and motherhood photographer Kali Norton for the launch of her beautiful new website. Kali was the SWEETEST and we absolutely loved working with her on a Restyle of our Radar Template. Radar was a perfect match for Kali's vision- she loved the clean lines and overlapping effects with her photos. To match her GORGEOUS photography, Kali dreamed of a site a design that was warm, relatable, and inspiring. We couldn't be more excited about how it turned out!

GO LIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?

Kali: I've dabbled in various creative outlets since I was very young; however, the enticing idea (that felt super crazy at the time) to be my own boss in the creative industry came during the latter part of my college career. I spent countless hours over the next year or two reading every blog post and forum discussion I could get my hands on from inspiring creatives (ie. Jasmine Star, Kara Layne, Stephanie Fay, Troy Grover). I was AMAZED that people made a living and created seemingly beautiful lives being creative. Long story short, I never looked back.

GO LIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?

Kali: I'm self-taught. In the digital world we live, there are just SO many online resources if you have the passion and motivation to utilize them! Creative Live, blogs of creatives killing it in the industry, photography forums, and hours of reading B&H Photo reviews literally taught me everything in those first few years. I also try to attend a workshop of some sort every other year to network and continue learning. Never stop perfecting your craft!

GO LIVE: WHAT'S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU'VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Kali: Whew, so many! HA! I'd say valuing my time, energy, and talent and pricing accordingly! This took me quite a few years to get to a place that I felt I was pricing accordingly for my time and energy. That's the thing about running your own business though, if you don't price your time right, you'll get burnt out VERY quickly.

GO LIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?

Kali: GO WITH YOUR GUT! At 28 years old, I'm truly just getting a hold of living my truth and doing this in ALL aspects of my life, but it's true. If your gut tells you a client isn't the best fit, they're probably not, and that's OK! I'd rather have 10 clients that I'm excited to work with because we share a similar vision than 100 that I'm stressed out trying to please. In the infantile years of a business, it's tempting to take every client that comes your way--and it's something most of us do--but, you learn quickly that you can't and don't need to please everyone!

GO LIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID "I SHOULD DO THIS" OR WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?

Kali: I was in school to be a high school English teacher or college professor, but seeing people like Promise and Jasmine killing it and living beautifully passionate lives doing what they love is all it took. There wasn't much turning back after that!

GO LIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAIN, OR DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN, FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?

Kali: Starting my own business doing what I love has been one of the most fulfilling things. As a child, I never dreamed a career could look like this. While it’s been quite the long + windy road, and it's seemingly human nature to never feel like “we’ve arrived,” I’m so incredibly grateful for everything that has come into my path while pursuing this little dream of mine. From some of my most intimate friendships, to places traveled, to amazing opportunities beyond my wildest dreams, following this passion has led me to places I'd never imagined.

GO LIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE?

Kali: I'm very familiar with the branding process and even help other companies identify their own heart + soul behind their biz. I went through an extensive branding process a few years ago, and while the entire process was amazing and enlightening, I don't think I knew quite who I was or where I wanted to go with my business at that time. As a result, although beautiful, my brand just didn't feel like ME.

After following Promise and her own career journey for so long, there was no doubt in my mind that she and her team were a match for making the brand vision I had in mind come to life.

Kali: This entire process with GoLive was SO INCREDIBLY EFFICIENT. The process is streamlined, the work is top-knotch, the communication is clear, and best of all, from the time I contacted them to the new site launch was all complete in a month. It was worth every single penny.
