Playful and Fun Squarespace Website For Wedding Photographer

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Photographer,
Katie Karlberg

Katie is a New England-Based, wedding photographer who is passionate about capturing the special moments of her clients’ big day! After six years in business, and putting her website rebrand on the back burner for over a year, she came to us ready for the hands-on help to GET IT DONE!

This is what she had to say after working with us: β€œI couldn't have imagined a more perfect website for my business, and the process was faster, easier, and more FUN than I ever could have imagined. THANK YOU GO LIVE TEAM!” - Katie

ABOUT THE DESIGN

The first part of this project was to create a brand identity to showcase how Katie’s business has grown and changed over the past six years. For the design of the website, we wanted to focus on featuring Katie’s playful personality as well as the high caliber of her photography work. For her site, we started with our Curate Template for Squarespace and did a Restyle. To make the Curate design unique we focused on using fun and bright colors, bold fonts, along with custom design elements, such as the pain strokes and icon. We love how all those elements together created the playful, fun, and happy vibe we were going for!

Q&A with Katie Karlberg

What is your expertise or claim to fame?

I'm a bubbly, positive, upbeat, hospitality obsessed, Fall Out Boy loving, yoga teaching wedding photographer! I always tell my wedding clients that I'm more than "just a person that shows up to your wedding with a camera," I want to REALLY get to know my couples (and what they're watching on Netflix!), to be a resource for them leading up to the big day, and be the extra bridesmaid they didn't even know they needed....all while taking super stellar photos of their special day. Plus, I'll even break out my famous Australian accent or bad dad jokes to make even the grumpiest wedding guest crack a smile in front of my camera!

What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned in your business?

Because photography is both an art and a business, it's hard to balance your creative side and being a boss lady...I've definitely had times that I focused too much on making beautiful photos and not enough on things like pricing my services competitively, ensuring my contracts are protecting me and my business or building an updated website. This COVID19 situation has definitely helped me find exactly where I need to focus on the business side of things, and amazing companies like GoLive have helped me outsource the things that I might not have been able to do on my own (like how to code stuff in SquareSpace!)

What does it mean to you to redesign your website?

This redesign has been HUGE for me - my business is 6 years old and hadn't had any kind of facelift since my very first website, but the business has grown and changed immensely over the years. This rebrand has helped me express exactly what I want my business to say to potential customers AND helped me elevate my brand so that I can attract my ideal client.

Why did you ultimately decide to work with GoLive?

I actually had purchased a GoLive template last year when I had originally planned to rebrand! The tutorials were great and it was SO easy to build a killer website on my own, but after a super busy wedding season I had accidentally put my rebrand project on the back burner. I realized I really wanted some extra "hands on" help - both to save time and to have a team of people to bounce ideas off of. So I decided I wanted to do a full Restyle. After my initial phone call with Danielle I just KNEW that the GoLive team was the perfect fit for me and the vision I had for my business and brand! Plus, you literally can't beat the turn-around time - FIVE DAYS?! They're amazing!
